Frequently Asked Questions About Builders and Construction in Hastings, NE

How do I get started with a remodeling project?
Chances are you have a good idea of the changes you’d like to make, so the first big step is finding the right company to work with. You should try to give as many details as possible to be sure the bids are based on the same specifications, otherwise they’ll be hard to compare. Communication during this initial phase will also give you a good idea how comfortable you’ll be working with each company.

How much will my remodeling project cost?
There are so many variables with each project that it’s impossible to provide an estimate without seeing your home and talking about what you want to do. We are more than happy to give you an estimate.
How long does a typical remodeling project take?
It really depends on the specifics of your job, but as a rough estimate, a complete bathroom remodel usually takes two-three weeks from the start of installation to completion. A kitchen remodel takes three to four weeks and a basement remodel takes four to five weeks. When it comes to additions over a wider range of options, it’s difficult to give a time frame. You may want materials that need to be ordered ahead, which factors into how long your job will take, but we work with you every step of the way to make sure there are no surprises.

When do I need to pay for my remodeling project?
Typically, a deposit is paid at the signing of the contract so that materials can be ordered and purchased. This also holds a spot for you in our work schedule. From that point on, payment is broken down into intervals based on project milestones.
Will your company take care of the trash and debris disposal?
The personnel working at the residence, unless the homeowner states otherwise, handles all trash and debris removal. If you’re having a large project done, a dumpster may be left on the premises while needed. Your Project Manager will work will you to determine the best placement.

What is a general contractor?

A general contractor is the prime contractor who is responsible for most of the work at the construction site, including that performed by the sub-contractors. The general contractor oversees all work while verifying that it is installed as detailed on the drawings, defined by the building codes, and are within industry standards.

Can I make changes to my project once it’s been started?

Yes, in most instances, you can make changes during your renovation. During the renovation we will discuss timelines with you and indicate what decisions need to be made and when. In order to ensure the project’s success, you need to make decisions ahead of time so this will not delay the overall scheduling including all the subsequent trade partners. With that said, we will assist you in making timely decisions. It is important to understand that certain selections may take time to order.
